Dead brothel owner wins Nevada state assembly seat

Dead brothel owner wins Nevada state assembly seat

Despite the paradoxical outcome, there are procedures in place to ensure that when Hof's posthumous victory is confirmed, local county commissioners may appoint another Republican to fill his seat. And as tragic as his death was, Hof campaign manager Chuck Muth previously indicated his boss's passing might actually help his electoral chances.

A couple of weeks ago I was with a friend from Nevada who told me that a dead brothel owner was favored to be elected to the Nevada legislature.

Dennis Hof, the Nevada brothel owner and reality TV star who died in October, won the election for the state's 36th Assembly District on Tuesday, the Nevada Secretary of State's office said.

The 72-year-old owned a number of brothels in Nevada, starred in the HBO adult reality series "Cathouse" and wrote a book titled "The Art of the Pimp".

Former NBA star Lamar Odom was once famously found unconscious at Love Ranch after a four-day stay. He defeated Democratic school administrator and political newcomer Lesia Romanov in a heavily Republican rural district.

He ran for office in 2016 as a Libertarian but lost.

He upended Nevada politics this summer when he ousted an incumbent Republican lawmaker in a primary, celebrating at an election night party with "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss. The state doesn't publicize how many are open, and most owners keep a much lower profile than Hof did.

In a June interview with Reuters at Moonlite BunnyRanch, his brothel near his home in Pahrump, Nevada, Hof said his political fortunes had parallels with those of US President Donald Trump.

Hof died in the same Love Ranch suite where Lamar Odom, the former National Basketball Association player and ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian, overdosed in October 2015, the New Yorker report said. Nye is one of 3 counties that make up Nevada's 36th district, which Dennis would've repped if he was alive.
