‘NOOOOOOO’ - Twitter Reacts To The Presidential Alert!

‘NOOOOOOO’ - Twitter Reacts To The Presidential Alert!

The EAS portion of the test, which will be sent to radio and television, will follow at 2:20 p.m. EDT. It was supposed to happen last month but response efforts to Hurricane Florence pushed it back to today. They're saying he can't be trusted to not use this option for future "Presidential Alerts" that don't have anything to do with emergencies.

It is the first test of the national wireless emergency system by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Some people may get the alert a bit later depending on cell phone tower issues.

A wireless provider must be participating in the WEA in order to receive the test message.

The test was originally planned for September 20, but was been postponed until October 3, due to ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Florence.

News of the alert prompted many to wonder if President Trump can text them directly and if he even wrote the alert himself.

Many cellphone users may be familiar with alerts they receive as warnings about flash flooding or missing children.

"Everything is secured, password-protected and then authenticated or checked by two people before that message is sent", the official said.

A number of people are testing ways to turn off the presidential alerts through jailbroken or rooted phones, but these methods may bring risks of causing other problems with your phone.

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), the lead Democrat on the Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, released a statement related to the test on Wednesday.

Interestingly, the text is neutral and contains zero messaging directly from Trump - "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System". Expect the same double beep and vibration as you would receiving the other alerts.

"The Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system is used to warn the public about unsafe weather, missing children, and other critical situations through alerts on cell phones". WEA may also be referred to as "government alerts" or "emergency alerts". Your phone might have alerted you that the test message arrived in a slightly different manner than normal text notifications. President George W. Bush authorized presidential alerts in 2006, but one has never been sent before Wednesday.
