Apple intros new Mac mini with up to 64GB memory

Apple's new Mac mini models are available for order now, and will ship on November 7th.

Apple has managed to pack all of these improvements into a shell that's exactly the same size as the previous Mac mini's.

The entry config has a 128GB SSD, 8GB of RAM and a quad-core processor for $799. Apple announces every Mac Mini now comes with four cores, with six-core processors also an option with 60 percent faster graphics and up to five times faster overall.

RAM now goes up to 64GB running at 2666 MHz. while storage is all-flash, running at a claimed four times faster than the old Mini and going up to a healthy 2TB.

Considering how much Apple loves to eliminate any sort of port that might be called "legacy", it's a bit of a surprise to look behind the new Mac Mini and find four Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.0 output, and an Ethernet port with an option for 10-Gb connectivity.

Apple at its October 30 event in NY, apart from unveiling the all-new MacBook Air, also launched all-new Mac mini.

All of the new Mac mini models come with Intel UHD Graphics 630, and support up to 3 displays. It's also made of 100% recyclable aluminum and comes in a new cool Space Gray finish.

Apple's MacBook Air was getting rather long in the tooth so this is a timely update to a popular SKU. It's the biggest upgrade ever to the Mac Mini.

When Steve Jobs introduced the very first Mac mini at Macworld 2005, he told us it was built to meet demand for a "stripped-down Mac that is more affordable".

So, now the minimum configuration features a quad-core 8 Gen Intel Core processor, and that can be paired with up to 64GB of RAM, and 2TB of fast PCIe attached solid state storage.

The Mac mini 2018 is packed with modern hardware that makes it a brilliant mini computer, so if you've been tempted to pick up the tiny Mac, the Mac mini 2018 is definitely worth the money.
