Claude Puel: I am confident about keeping Harry Maguire

Leicester manager Claude Puel is confident defender Harry Maguire will remain at the club despite interest from Manchester United.

His stock further increased after an excellent World Cup campaign with England, where he played a pivotal part as Gareth Southgate's men made it all the way to semifinals of the tournament.

Maguire, signed from Hull for what now looks a bargain £17m just 12 months ago, would favour a move to Old Trafford but is not thought to be ready to push the issue. The 25-year-old put in a strong show in England's run to thesemi-finals in Russian Federation, featuring in all seven games and scoring in the quarter-final against Sweden.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel has stated that both Kasper Schmeichel and Harry Maguire were not for sale this summer and that the Foxes are confident of holding onto their star duo. It is believed that the 2015 Premier League champions want at least 10 to 15 million extra for the defender, a price that seems unlikely for United to agree on.

It would mean a major profit for Leicester, but Puel would rather keep hold of the 25-year-old. "It is crucial for us", Puel told the media after Leicester's 2-1 defeat to Udinese on Saturday.

'We can not lose players just a few days before the beginning of the season, ' he said. The Argentina worldwide did not go on United's tour to the U.S. owing to an injury sustained at the World Cup, and will be allowed to leave by José Mourinho. "He's happy to be here, this is a fantastic opportunity for him to show his talent".

'Of course for us he is a very good player - I wait for him with impatience because we need Harry and we need also Jamie [Vardy] because they are Leicester'.
