Brandt Snedeker Shoots 59 at the Wyndham Championship

Brandt Snedeker Shoots 59 at the Wyndham Championship

Webb finished third in this tournament previous year and has five top-10 finishes in the Wyndham Championship since 2010.

"To know what you're trying to do and step up and have a 20-footer (on the final hole) and know what it means, I was very aware of what was going on, and to knock that putt in was really special", Snedeker said.

The Ryder Cup regular made three straight birdies from the second before slipping back with a bogey at the fifth, but he got the shot back at seven and a nerveless four-foot putt on his final hole earned him a 59.

"I said, 'You know what?"

The European Tour returns with the Nordea Masters, but the field is barely befitting that of a top-line tournament.

Simpson, victor of the event in 2011 and from the Greensboro area, won the prestigious PLAYERS Championship earlier this year and will tee off at 7:50 a.m. ET Thursday with 2017 Masters champion Garcia, who won at Greensboro in 2012.

"I have no doubt I can get it done this week", Baddeley told AAP.

"My results, I think, have been a combination of what Brad has laid out for me as well as the hard work I've been putting in", Baddeley says of Malone, who he has worked with for nearly two years.

Just a week after Thomas became the youngest player to break 60, Adam Hadwin carded a sensational 59 in the third round of the CareerBuilder Challenge in California, making him the fourth player to achieve the feat on a par-72 course.

A week after the PGA Championship and the golfing calendar continues at a pace, although it is the Wyndham Championship that is by far the stand-out-event. During his first 16 tournaments of the season, he finished in the top 10 just once.

"I better be smiling", Snedeker said.

Then, he spent the first round showing it off.

But at the par-4 eighth, Snedeker missed a six-foot birdie putt and tapped in for par.

"Could have been even more special", he said, "but happy with the way everything turned out". "You've got to keep your head on straight and make sure you're still doing the right stuff and it'll eventually turn around. Like, let's try and close that gap a little bit".
