Uncharted Creator Left EA After Star Wars Game Shake-Up

With EA having been the guiding force behind numerous most recent Star Wars titles in the past few years, one of the most highly-anticipated projects in the work was one coming from Uncharted's Amy Hennig and Visceral Games, and while that project has been cancelled since then, new details from Hennig have revealed what lies in the future for her and the Star Wars project she was helping to guide.

EA's troubles with the Star Wars licence continue to pile up, as renowned Uncharted writer and director Amy Hennig reveals she hasn't worked at the company since the beginning of the year. "I'm hoping to bring some people on board, I would love to have a little company of about six to eight people, 15 at the most, and do some more projects, do some VR stuff - I'm consulting with some VR companies and doing a ton of research because I haven't played a lot to immerse myself in it", Hennig said. Beyond being moved to a new division of EA, EA Vancouver is making the game open world which is very different than what Hennig and her team were working on. Would you like to have seen Hennig's Star Wars game see the light of day? While it was reported by Kotaku that Hennig was in discussions about her future at EA, she confirmed to Eurogamer than she departed earlier this year.

As for what's keeping Hennig busy these days, she said she's started her own independent studio and she's been doing some consulting.

She added: "I haven't been in, but look - I get along with all those people, I consider even the guys on the exec team friends".

The reason for Hennig's months of silence about her departure (which she did not clarify as either a resignation or termination) boiled down to waiting for the right time, she told Purchese.

The good news is that she is now about to launch an independent studio, saying 'I'm working independently and staying independent.

Now we know she is no longer with EA. This news meant that the studios Star Wars project led by Uncharted creator Amy Hennig - codenamed Ragtag - was in a state of limbo along with the staff who had were now without a job. Until then, we do have at least one other Star Wars game in the works regarding our beloved Jedi.
