Putin summit is on after hacking indictment: White House

Putin summit is on after hacking indictment: White House

Donald Trump will meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Monday, July 16, in Helsinki, but Arizona Sen.

In an uproarious trip to Europe, Trump harangued members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military alliance, scolded Germany for its dependence on Russian energy and shocked Britain by publicly criticising Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit strategy.

The president is spending the weekend at his golf property in Scotland before leaving on Sunday for Helsinki, where the meeting is scheduled to take place. "It's a devastating technology".

"If I had been President, Crimea wouldn't have happened", Trump said.

"I will absolutely, firmly ask the question, and hopefully we'll have a good relationship with Russian Federation", he told a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May.

The meetings were expected to be unusually tense after Trump trashed May's Brexit plans in a diplomacy-wrecking interview with The Sun newspaper that published late Thursday night.

Kerry said Trump "displayed a woeful ignorance of the work his predecessor's administration did to increase European defense spending", referring to former President Obama, under whom he worked.

Trump also has expressed little interest in continuing the harsh USA criticism of Russian activities in Syria, Ukraine and elsewhere, and of Russia's human rights record.

On July 12, a NATO summit endorsed a joint statement that accused Moscow of "challenging Euro-Atlantic security and stability through hybrid actions, including attempted interference in the election processes.widespread disinformation campaigns, and malicious cyber activities".

But Warner took it a step further than Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), suggesting to reporters on Friday that if Trump and Putin meet one-on-one, the Kremlin leader would likely take advantage of Trump's unpreparedness.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been charged with money laundering and other crimes, while former national security adviser Michael Flynn has admitted lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"It's on", spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said. Moreover, I can say that I had a short meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit.

"The stakes for the upcoming Trump-Putin meeting could not be higher".

"I'd think [he] might remember that it was North Atlantic Treaty Organisation that stood shoulder to shoulder with the United States after 9/11, among many other contributions", he said.

"Trump should cancel the meeting or make it an open meeting, confronting Putin on his aggression & taking measures to hold them accountable", Booker said.

White House Correspondents' Association President Margaret Talev said in a statement that "saying a news organization isn't real doesn't change the facts and won't stop us from doing our jobs".

"It reflects the way Trump and certainly some of the people in his orbit view things", Jeff Mankoff, deputy director of the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies' Russia and Eurasia Program, said in a phone interview.

"I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it, I did it, you got me, '" Trump said. "I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn't agree, she didn't listen to me".
