Xiaomi's new Mi 8 Android phone shamelessly copies the iPhone X

Today's event witnessed the launch of Mi 8 SE (Special Edition), Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi VRStandalone headset, Mi Band 3 and MIUI 10. The standard Mi 8 will cost upwards of 2699 RMB ($420) with a smaller 5.88-inch size "SE" model priced from 1799 RMB, or $280.

Powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor, the Xiaomi Mi 8 sports a 6.21-inch OLED screen from Samsung and has a notch, with the notch being the location of a 20-megapixel front-facing selfie camera.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 will be priced at 2,699 yuan (£317). Similar to Apple's iPhone 8 and iPhone X launch a year ago, Xiaomi is differentiating the Mi 8 family to cater to various price points.

Xiaomi follows a pretty basic recipe when designing a new high-end smartphone: it has to give consumers lots more bang for the buck than the competition. Unfortunately Xiaomi has yet to launch their phones stateside, so for now it appears that these phones will only be available in China. There is no official news on when the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 will be arriving to the Malaysian market as well as the local price for it.

There's also MIUI 10 - the latest version of Xiaomi's Android skin - to look forward to, though numerous new features this update will bring are intended for users in China.

In terms of additional features, the Mi Band 3 can now display your messages and answer your calls right off its display. It will also come with infrared cameras located at the notch for face unlocking, a feature also available on the iPhone X.

The company has recently expanded into Europe, so we may later see the Mi 8 on sale elsewhere.

The Mi 8's cameras are capable of offering accurate exposure and wide dynamic range, rich and vivid colors, accurate white balance (neutral), very fast and accurate autofocus, plus smooth and attractive bokeh simulation. This is an unusual resolution but that is because the aspect ratio falls to 18.7:9. Xiaomi says the glass-backed Mi 8 is the first Android phone with dual-frequency Global Positioning System (using the L1 and L5 bands) for finer-grained location and navigation services.

It's set to become available to buy in China on 5 June, and while it won't officially on sale in the United States or United Kingdom, you'll be able to buy it from the likes of Geekbuying.

OnePlus 6 also features a dual rear setup- 16-megapixel primary lens with f/1.7 aperture, 1.22-micron pixels, gyro-EIS and OIS + 20-megapixel secondary lens with f/1.7 aperture, 1-micron pixels. It comes with the same SoC as its smaller sibling, but ups the RAM and internal storage count to 8 GB and 128 GB respectively.

There's also pedometer features, plus when you're working out you'll get real time stats on the screen of your distance, duration and more. And, just like the front camera, the rear cameras also support AI-based Portrait Mode, and, also come with AI-based scene detection.

The Mi 8 starts off at 2,699 yuan (~$421) for the 6GB RAM/64GB variant. Rs 1,780) while the NFC supported version is expected to sell for around 199 yuan (approx.
