The 30-year-old upstate NY man who was evicted from his parents' home says he's OK being the punchline of jokes as he prepares to move by the legal deadline.

The 30-year-old upstate NY man who was evicted from his parents' home has finally left, hours before a court-ordered deadline.

Michael Rotondo honked and waved to reporters Friday morning as he pulled out of the driveway of his parents' home in Camillus (kuh-MIHL'-us), New York. The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports Rotondo called 911 on Tuesday, saying a person had called his phone from a restricted number to call him a "loser". Instead of letting him in, his father offered to look for specific items and bring them out if he found them.

His parents, Mark and Christina, issued him with a letter in February and one again a month later offering him $1,000 to leave and the offer of help finding a job, but their son refused. "While the police were there, the Legos were located and there was no further incident".

The eviction drama began on February 2 when the parents left their first note, saying Michael had two weeks to vacate his room at the family's Camillus home.

The Rotondos' house in Camillus, N.Y., where Michael Rotondo, 30, was evicted at the request of his parents.

"I'm glad to be out of this place", Rotondo said Thursday.

He also told reporters he had said goodbye to his parents "more or less", and maintained that he would not have a relationship with his parents, before jumping in the Volkswagen and driving off. Rotondo wanted to get into the home in because he said Lego belonging to his son - who he lost custody of and unsupervised visitation in 2017 - was in the basement.

New York State Supreme Court Judge Donald Greenwood disagreed and on May 22 granted the eviction notice, with a move-out deadline of Friday. "I don't have to guess what's behind door number one".

As for his future plans, he says he's looking for "someplace low-cost, with internet" to live, and that he won't speak to his parents again. Asked if that marks a dramatic change in his thinking, given his recent hard-fought court battle, Rotondo answered succinctly.
