Michael Cohen Requests Court Order Forcing Stormy Daniels' Attorney to Shut Up

According to Cohen's filing, Avenatti has appeared on television more than 120 times and tweeted about the case almost 500 times since becoming Daniels's lawyer.

She claims that Cohen gave her "hush money" during the 2016 election to keep quiet about her relationship with Trump. Following the raids, Cohen told ABC News "I just want my stuff back", while Ryan released a statement arguing that the seized documents included "the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney-client communications" and slammed the government's tactics as "wrong because Mr. Cohen has cooperated completely with all government entities".

"This is the worst move the White House could be making at a time when the president is potentially most vulnerable and others are most vulnerable", a lawyer close to the case told CBS News.

Trump hasn't spoken publicly in defense of Cohen since April, when he tweeted a three-part message in response to a scathing New York Times story about his former lawyer.

The cases is Clifford v. Trump, 18-cv-2217, U.S. District Court, Central District of California (Los Angeles).

Cohen is the focus of an investigation in the Southern District of NY into whether he violated campaign-finance laws or committed bank fraud, wire fraud, illegal lobbying, or other crimes. Asked if Cohen, long among Trump's most trusted fixers, was still his attorney, the president said no. US District Judge Kimba Wood had imposed a Friday deadline for Cohen's team to finish its review of roughly 2.4 million documents it had yet to sift through.

Michael Cohen is telling his friends and family he may cooperate with federal prosecutors investigating him for possible financial crimes, CNN reported Friday.

Trump has repeatedly said there was no collusion, and Russian Federation has denied interference.

"The motion for a gag order is a complete joke and baseless".

'Mr. Avenatti either needs to respect and observe the Code of Professional Conduct (for lawyers) or remove himself from this case, ' Cohen's lawyer Brent Blakely said in an email. This means that instead of notifying and serving Avenatti, Cohen filed his application directly with the court; in ex parte applications, if the judge grants the requested order, it is on a temporary basis until both sides can be heard at a hearing on the matter.
