Gears Tactics announced for Windows 10

In addition to a mobile game and a new main entry to the franchise, Gears of War seems to be getting a very XCOM-esque spin-off title, with The Coalition announcing Gears Tactics at Microsoft's E3 conference. Gears Tactics takes place 12 years before the events of the first game, with COGS facing off against the early Locust invasion.

Yes, one of the games Microsoft announced today is a new mash-up with Funko Pop, if you can believe it.

2016's Gears of War 4 shifted the narrative tone of the series away somewhat from the deep bro-love of the original trilogy and delivered an even better Horde mode than its predecessor, but didn't dramatically reinvent the wheel. If you haven't been able to watch it, the screens give you the idea.

GoW5 is set for a 2019 Xbox, and Windows 10 platform release and the story mode picks from where the series last title left off.

The Youtube description may lend credence to that theory: "In Gears 5 as Kait, journey across the biggest, most lovely Gears world ever created".

Microsoft has also confirmed that Gears 5 will feature local and online co-op modes, though you can of course play the game solo if you prefer.
