North Carolina restaurant serves tarantula burger part of 'exotic meat month'

- Arbitrary holidays and commemorative months have managed to fill our calendars with reasons to celebrate.

If there's one burger Sobelman's and AJ Bomber's are missing from their menus, it's a tarantula burger.

The "Tarantula Challenge" is part of Bull City Burger and Brewery's "Exotic Meat Month", and has proven so popular customers need to enter a ballot for the chance to eat one.

The restaurant says the burger is made of 100 percent pasture-raised beef with gruyere cheese, oven-roasted tarantula, and spicy chili sauce, served on a fresh-house baked bun.

If their number is drawn, Bull City contacts them to set up their mealtime.

A Durham, North Carolina restaurant is striking fear into the hearts of eaters with a new dish, tarantula burgers.

Other exotic meats featured during the promotion include alligator, camel, turtle, reindeer, goat, and bug-topped guacamole burgers. Surprisingly, the burger has been so popular the restaurant is holding a raffle to select the "winners" of the burger.

But there's a catch (in case eating a tarantula wasn't already a struggle): The Tarantula Challenge is by lottery only.
