Deportee ditches ICE agents at JFK, slips away in cab

U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agents removed the unidentified man's handcuffs while going through airport security, law enforcement sources told the New York Daily News.

The man has been described as being 6 feet, 3 inches tall, 190 pounds.

Port Authority police officers were notified of his escape at about 9:15 p.m., an agency police spokesman said. He was wearing a purple or black shirt, jeans and sneakers.

The Port Authority released a statement after the incident: "An individual being transported by federal immigration officials at JFK Airport last night eluded custody during transfer to a connecting flight". Surveillance footage from the airport showed the man leaving the facility in a taxi. Federal authorities would know if he is still at large. They claimed that the man was no longer a threat to others at the airport when he was about to board the plane. He was ordered deported in September 2015 by an immigration judge. Port Authority police confirmed the escape to Fox News and NBC New York. Mbacke has previous criminal convictions for multiple weapons and firearms offenses.

ICE urged anyone who sees Mbacke to immediately contact authorities, and warned that members of the public shouldn't try to apprehend him.
