Police not treating Dolores O'Riordan's death as suspicious

Details surrounding her death are scarce, and the family has asked for privacy at this time.

These have been among the tributes paid today to Dolores O'Riordan, whose death was announced last evening.

"Police in Westminster have dealt with a sudden death".

British media reported the hotel as the London Hilton on Park Lane.

A wave of tributes have followed the star's death, led by President of Ireland Michael D Higgins, who hailed a musician, singer and song writer that "had an enormous influence on rock and pop music in Ireland and internationally".

O'Riordan was born on September 6, 1971 in Ballybricken, southwest Ireland. "Her voice and her contribution to music will be remembered far beyond her native county for many years to come".

Yesterday marked the tragic death of one of rock's most unique and memorable female voices.

The band's songs - on which O'Riordan was chief lyricist and co-songwriter - had a Celtic-infused tunefulness. Bad Wolves singer Tommy Vext expressed his condolences and admiration for O'Riordan in a Facebook post on Monday.

The Cranberries broke up in 2002, when O'Riordan left the band - but not before they had sold some 35 million albums worldwide.

Despite the protest song's troubling subject matter, it became one of The Cranberries most successful songs, reaching number one in Australia, Denmark, Belgium, France and Germany, as well as topping the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, and reaching number three in Ireland. Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar was among the first to pay tribute, calling O'Riordan "the voice of a generation".

The Cranberries rose to global fame in the mid-1990s with a string of hits, including "Linger", "Zombie" and "Dreams". "I retired, really", the singer told WXPN's World Cafe in 2007, saying that by the time the group's fourth album, Bury The Hatchet, was released in 1999, the band had "burned out" after having achieved enormous success so early. After the band released their 2001 album Wake Up and Smell the Roses, they would go on hiatus, allowing O'Riordan to embark on a solo career in 2007.

The Cranberries also reunited that year, resulting in the album "Roses" in 2012.

Ms O'Riordan was pronounced dead at the scene.

O'Riordan was married to Don Burton, the former tour manager of Duran Duran for over 20 years, the couple divorced in 2014. The_Cranberries gave us our first big support when we toured with them around France years ago! After her court hearing O'Riordan urged other people suffering mental illness to seek help.

She had discussed in interviews that she had suffered from an eating disorder when she was younger at had in 2015 been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
