Megyn Kelly fires back at 'Hanoi Jane' Fonda over plastic surgery controversy

"It was so inappropriate".

"Everybody in the control room gasped when Megyn brought up Hoda's 'dark period, ' because many viewers likely won't know exactly what she was referring to", an NBC source told the gossip publication.

Kelly and Fonda's dispute dates back to the first week of "Megyn Kelly Live", when Kelly asked Fonda why she's said in the past that she's not proud to admit she's "had work done".

Ms. Kelly had an with Ms. Fonda in September on her talk show "Megyn Kelly Today" after she asked the actress about her past plastic surgeries, which Ms. Fonda had been outspoken about while speaking with other outlets.

Ms. Kelly's on-air criticism of Ms. Fonda occurred days after a report surfaced that a former "Megyn Kelly Today" employee described her show as a "toxic" workplace.

"It wasn't like I was upset", Fonda said. "I have no regrets about that question", she said, "nor am I in the market for a lesson from Jane Fonda on what is and is not appropriate".

On Monday (22Jan18), Kelly addressed the drama for the first time, taking aim at the actress and women's rights activist for continuing to grumble about their TV encounter.

"Now, a word on Jane Fonda, who appears to be fixated on an exchange I had with her months ago on this show", Kelly started a monologue at the end of her show on Monday morning.

"You've been an example to everyone in how to age beautifully and with strength and unapologetically", Kelly said to Fonda at the time. "You admit you've had work done, which I think is to your credit, but I think you look unbelievable". But you look wonderful. "I'm proud of the people who are turning out in unprecedented numbers and continue and continue over and over and over again to protest what Trump is doing".

She then went on to lambast Fonda for her role in opposing the Vietnam War.

Hollywood's image and morale has taken a major hit from the sexual assault scandals but here's a moment to rally the left around the cause they care about most: maintaining their cultural power. "But let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, 'Our Souls at Night, ' rather than plastic surgery".

Kelly defended questioning the celebrity about her plastic surgery.

Somehow, Kelly found a way to loop back around to the original issue at hand, Fonda's unwillingness to discuss her plastic surgery, which Kelly referred to as her "moral indignation". Second, Kelly's scornful "her plastic surgery is tough to ignore" drew derisive laughs from her studio audience. She said she wanted to discuss the plight of older women in America.

"For years she has spoke about the joy of giving a cultural face to older women", Kelly said. Then she goes on to address Fonda's own past, "Hanoi Jane", and says she's in no position to talk about what's offensive.
