Huawei Mate 10 Pro Is Not Coming To US Carriers

According to the Wall Street Journal, AT&T, which is the second-largest provider of mobile phone services in the USA in terms of subscribers, changed its mind about a deal to sell Huawei phones.

Failing to secure a partnership with one of the biggest mobile carriers in the U.S.is a major setback for AT&T, Bloomberg reports. No explanation for the decision has been given, and a Huawei spokesperson would only say that "Huawei has proven itself by delivering premium devices with integrity globally and in the U.S. market".

The Mate 10 Pro, launched in Europe in October with a price tag of €799, comes with AI-enhanced chips that Huawei, the world's third-largest smartphone vendor, says process data faster than those used by Apple and Samsung.

In a statement to Reuters on Tuesday, Huawei said that the usa market presents "unique challenges" and that the Mate 10 Pro will not be sold directly by us carriers.

As a reminder the the Huawei Mate 10 Pro features a 6 inch AMOLED display that has a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, it is powered by a Kirin 970 Processor. That may be good news for consumers, but that not might bode well for Huawei.

So far there is no sign that Huawei is trying to strike a handset sales deal with any of the other major USA mobile carriers, such as T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint.

According to The Information, Huawei's smartphone deal with AT&T was killed by "political pressure". According to The New York Times, a group of lawmakers wrote a letter to the Federal Communications Commission in December, saying it was concerned about a possible deal between Huawei and an an unnamed telecommunications company.

Huawei has continually denied allegations that it spies for China.
