'Flashpoint' in talks with new directors after Ben Affleck turned it down

Judging by the Flashpoint mantle of the movie though, it seems that Barry is going to have to deal with a muddled timeline and alternate universes.

It looks like DC's "Flashpoint" is close to getting directors. Maybe the Flashpoint movie will do the same for the DCEU and it's struggles as of late. The Flash's solo movie previously had directors Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa attached, but after they left due to creative differences the film was put on hold. However, about a year and a half ago Famuyiwa also called the production quits.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed through reliable sources that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, screenwriters for Spider-Man: Homecoming, are now in talks with Warner Bros.to fill the empty void left after the departure of former director Rick Famuyiwa.

Should the deal go ahead, it will likely mean Flashpoint has a comedic element in the vein of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which grossed over £637 million at the global box office and received positive reviews, with critics praising the light tone and Tom Holland's performance as Spider-Man. The announcement of Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein being appointed to helm the film is great news as fans now know that the film will be made. Now let's just hope they stick around to help Miller make the most of his moment in the superhero spotlight.

The outlet reports that before the Homecoming duo boarded the Flash film, Ben Affleck was approached to direct.

But he started changing his tune during the promotional period for Justice League, hedging his bets about his future while leaving the door open for a potential return.

Earlier, way back in October a year ago, it was being said that the future of Flashpoint will depend on the commercial success of Justice League. And how about you, DC fans? The DC Hyper-Extended Multiverse, as I plan to call it. Quote me! Initial plans had its release date aimed at 2018, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller tapped to write a story treatment and possibly direct.

This won't be Daley and Goldstein's first rodeo in the superhero arena.
