Bournemouth manager Howe: 'Inner strength' helped us beat Arsenal

Bournemouth manager Howe: 'Inner strength' helped us beat Arsenal

"The two goals were of high quality so I am really pleased that gave us the boost towards the end of the game".

It was another poor performance from the Gunners who were without both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as both of their futures at the club appear to be very unclear.

Having won just one of their last five Premier League matches, Arsenal remain sixth with 39 points - five behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.

There were a couple of chances for either side in the opening exchanges, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles coming closest in the eighth minute - hitting the crossbar after a cross from Alexandre Lacazette fell to him.

Howe's side finished the half strongly, though, Ryan Fraser drawing an important block from Calum Chambers and then testing Petr Cech, while Arsenal were perhaps fortunate not to concede a penalty for handball against Iwobi from a corner.

Second half goals from Callum Wilson and Jordon Ibe cancelled out Hector Bellerin's opener as Arsenal suffered yet another away defeat in the league.

"They've got outstanding players, and we knew the only way to win today was by playing well".

Callum Wilson restored parity for Bournemouth in the 70th minute, stabbing home a cross from the right flank before Ibe bagged the victor. "It doesn't matter who played, we respect all their players".

With 20 minutes remaining Bournemouth found a deserved equaliser.

Alex Iwobi tested home keeper Asmir Begovic before Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling was booked after going to ground under a Shkodran Mustafi challenge when the Arsenal player appeared to have caught him.
