Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event returns December 12

As usual, the themed event will be host to a range of new skins, emotes, sprays, and even a special new way to play in the Arcade.

Additionally, Kaplan says Overwatch's Black Forest map is getting a new holiday makeover. Perhaps one of the most anticipated and exciting items on the way is a new Hanzo skin from the Overwatch comics.

With the holiday season fast approaching, you'll have probably already gathered that Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event will be returning at some point. There's no word given on exactly when Yeti Hunt and the rest of Winter Wonderland will debut, but last year's event ran from 13 December to 3 January so I'm guessing it will be about the same this time around. We also don't know if this skin is tied to the specific winter event or if it will go into circulation with the normal look boxes. Also making a comeback in this year's edition of the Winter Wonderland Event is the "Mei's Snowball Offensive". What's new here is it's expanding to the Black Forest map too, and a change in scenery is always a nice addition to have. Essentially, it boils down to 5 Mei players taking on resident big lad Winston, who also happens to be player controlled.

Speaking of Mei, Blizzard is planning a new event around the snowy scientist. Events like Winter Wonderland are important to a game like this because they keep players engaged and may convince some players to spend money on microtransactions. This will be an asymmetrical multiplayer mode with a boss fight similar to Evolve. When the game begins, the Meis must attempt to hunt down and eliminate Winston, while he does he best to avoid detection and snaffle up as many meat power-ups as he can. At the beginning, everyone playing as Mei will try to hunt down Winston and kill him.

He said nothing about Pharah, however, presumably because he dislikes me, personally.
