Mystery person leaves gift-wrapped manure for Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin

Police on Saturday investigated a suspicious packageaddressed to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, CBS Los Angeles reports.

The LAPD bomb squad responded to the home after a neighbor reported seeing a package wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper left on the Mnuchin's driveway.

Police discovered the package contained horse manure after unwrapping it, it said, adding that investigators cleared the package around 8 p.m.

No evacuations were ordered, but the street was closed while authorities examined the large box.

It was initially said to be a suspicious package but officials later said its contents were not a threat.

According to the New York Post, the "gift" also included a card that referenced President Donald Trump and the recently passed tax bill. Police did not release further information about the package. He previously worked in banking and finance before joining public service, acting as CEO of Dune Capital Management and working for The Goldman Sachs Group earlier in his career. It is unclear if Mnuchin or his wife Louise Linton were home at the time of the incident.
