Amazon Prime Video is now available on Apple TV

Apple TV owners can find Amazon Video in the App Store, and download it for free. In addition to licensed movies and TV shows, Prime Video offers a lineup of original movies and series from Amazon Studios, as well as access to 140 channel subscriptions in the USA and 95 channels in the U.K., Germany and Austria.

Long missing from Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video has finally joined the ranks of Netflix and other streaming apps on the set top device.

Starting Wednesday, Amazon Prime users will be able to more easily watch movies and TV shows directly on Apple TV, rather than using a workaround to mirror content from an iPhone or another Apple device via AirPlay. In case you didn't know - Amazon stopped selling the Apple TV on its website mainly due to the fact that it had no presence of Amazon Prime Video at all on Apple's TV platform. Back in 2015, Amazon reportedly had a falling out with Apple over the cut it takes from in-app purchases, and as a retaliation made a decision to ban sales of the Apple TV on its website. The app is integrated with Apple TV to allow for searching via the Siri remote, and Apple TV's universal search functionality.

Will Amazon start selling Apple TV again?

For Amazon, this provides another way for customers to access the company's growing streaming video catalog that is accessible via the $99/year or $10.99/month Prime membership program.

It's no secret that Apple and Amazon have had a rocky relationship, so it was a bit of a surprise when the Cupertino giant announced in June at WWDC that Prime Video is coming to its Apple TV digital media player. The app is rolling out in the U.S., the U.K., Canada and possibly more locations. "And they're going to return it".

Sign in with your Amazon account and begin exploring Amazon's. So, it will be interesting to see if this also changes following the launch of the Prime Video app on Apple TV.
