Mueller has enough evidence to bring charges in Flynn investigation

Special Counsel Robert Mueller now has sufficient evidence to bring charges against President Trump's former national security advisor Michael T. Flynn and his son, NBC News announced today, citing multiple sources familiar with Mueller's investigation. "Flynn, who was sacked after just 24 days on the job, was one of the first Trump associates to come under scrutiny in the federal probe now led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into possible collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign".

Additionally, investigators have been digging into allegations that Flynn may have been involved in efforts to facilitate the extradition of Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, a vocal opponent of Turkish President Recep Erdogan, from the U.S. back to Turkey. They secured the first two indictments less than two weeks ago, resulting in the arrests of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and Rick Gates. It was also unveiled that George Papadopoulos, a former Trump foreign policy adviser, pleaded guilty over the summer to lying to federal prosecutors.

Sources told NBC that Flynn's son, Michael G. Flynn, could be indicted separately or with his dad.

Flynn's work as a lobbyist is under scrutiny. As of Sunday afternoon, however, it was unclear exactly what charges the younger Flynn might face or what investigators were focusing on. Flynn's lobbying firm was hired to dig up information about Fethulla Gulen, a Muslim cleric accused of trying to stage a coup to overthrow Turkish President Recep Erdogan. More likely though, Flynn's son is a pawn to be used to get Flynn to talk. In addition to co-founding and working for Flynn Intel Group, he joined Flynn during a trip to Moscow in December 2015, NBC News reported, during which Flynn was paid $34,000 to deliver a speech at an event celebrating the state-sponsored news agency RT. Flynn's son traveled with his father during the campaign and transition.
