Mariah Kay Woods: FBI joins search for three-year-old girl

The FBI released images Wednesday morning from a Walmart in Morehead City, North Carolina, that may show a missing 3-year-old girl at the center of a statewide Amber Alert.

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation are attempting to determine whether the child depicted in the images is missing 3-year-old Mariah Woods.

Police are asking the neighbors in this rural area to check their yards, sheds and properties for any sign of the toddler, who is about 2 feet and 9 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds. She has blond hair and blue eyes.

Mariah Kay Woods was reported missing around 6:45am Monday after her mother discovered she was gone from their home in Jacksonville, Onslow County, People reports.

Kristy Woods, Mariah's mother, is pleading for her daughter to be returned safely.

She said Mariah has "walking difficulties".

Drones and helicopters have been supplementing ground searches.

A family friend told 9 On Your Side the girl has an orthopedic leg problem, so when she walks her left leg is thrown around and causes her to wobble.

Woods said she last observed her little girl at around 11 p.m. Sunday.

"'I'll do anything that I can, whatever you want", said Woods.

Kristy Woods begged for her to be brought back home.

Miller, with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, said authorities interviewed the child's mother and her live-in boyfriend but would not comment further during the news conference about the ongoing investigation.

Anne Edwards, a family friend, said Mariah is a sweet child, but shy with strangers, according to WRAL.

"She wouldn't have her support, her braces and things of that nature", said Cloyd.

Alex Woods is the biological father of Mariah Woods and her two brothers.

Mariah has been missing since Sunday night.
