Celtics first team to win 7 straight after 0-2 start

Celtics first team to win 7 straight after 0-2 start

Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving is projected to play 38 minutes on Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Behind Westbrook dictating play on offense - particularly in a 10-5 Thunder flurry following a dubious flagrant foul call on the reigning MVP in the second quarter - and OKC's ability to switch onto Irving between a choice of Westbrook, Paul George and Andre Roberson, the Thunder blasted out to a 55-37 halftime lead.

Kyrie Irving was the star of the show as he took over in the second half and inspired the Celtics to the victory.

The Celtics have shown that they will blow the lesser teams out, they have proven that they can struggle and then close the game out with clutch play, and now they are showing you that no lead is safe in any situation. Then, the 6-foot-3 Irving missed his free throw and somehow got his rebound in a sea of Thunder frontcourt players for an 87-81 lead with 4:13 left. The Celtics held their own, and got back into the game with defense. "It's going to be how he responds to today's work. Sometimes that's tough (to do) from the bench, but I'm looking forward to getting back".

"Elfrid looked good. He competed and you saw that his conditioning is a little behind - as to be expected - but he had a good practice, " Vogel noted. We have now seen what Kyrie can do when he becomes the number one option on the team. "We have two days before the next game against NY, so there's a line of thinking that, 'Even if he's ready, let's get him two more practices so we can fully put it behind him.' But we'll see how he feels (on Sunday)". Orlando entered Friday first in the National Basketball Association in 3-point shooting, second in scoring and second in field goal percentage, but its offense ground to a halt because of a lack of ball movement and missed shots from the 3-point arc and at point-blank range.

Al Horford scored 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while also hauling in eight rebounds.

Kyrie Irving finished with 25 points, six assists, five rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot across 34 minutes Friday at Oklahoma City.

Things looked dire for Orlando back on October 20 when Payton left with his injury and the team was beaten 126-121 by the Brooklyn Nets.

Irving recently praised Stevens for his "intellectual mind" and said he's the type of coach he's been "craving" for his career. He kinda stayed ahead of the curve with where the game was going.

"I think that was a great statement around the league for us".

Boston lost that opener in Cleveland and fell again a night later to the Milwaukee Bucks. Boston found ways, whether on the secondary break or with Irving's slithering to change the theme come quarters three and four. "So Coach puts the trust in me and Al to go down the stretch".
