Instead, the vast majority of the team took a knee during the anthem before its game vs. the Seattle Seahawks.

McNair has issued two apologies and is attempting to explain his comments after a story in ESPN The Magazine this week revealed that he said "we can't have the inmates running the prison" during a meeting of NFL owners about players who protest by kneeling during the national anthem.

The protest comes in the wake of some controversial comments from the Texans owner. The player also said that he expects everyone on the team to travel Saturday to Seattle for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Owners did not vote to change a policy that would require players to stand for the anthem during that meeting.

McNair publicly apologized on Friday and Saturday. Left tackle Duane Brown told reporters on Friday that players considered a mass walkout but ultimately made a decision to practice and fly to Seattle.

According to ESPN, Texans players met on Saturday to discuss how to handle McNair's comments.

But McNair's seeming comparison of the league's players to "inmates" sparked a bitter backlash from players across the league - and even from players in other sports. "To use an analogy of inmates in a prison, I would say they're disrespectful". "We can't have the inmates running the prison", McNair said at a meeting regarding National Football League players' demonstrations against racial inequality and police brutality.

This's what Wilson does best - he scrambles behind the line, rolls a few times, creates plays and throws off balance dots that leave defenses asking themselves, "what more could we have possibly done?"
