Ortiz thrown out, Wilder to face mandatory Stiverne next, say WBC

Ortiz thrown out, Wilder to face mandatory Stiverne next, say WBC

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is promising pain and punishment for mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne.

The bout is a rematch of their January 2015 clash in Las Vegas, when Wilder took the WBC title from Stiverne in an epic clash.

The WBC said in a statement: "The WBC has concluded the process according to its Clean Boxing Program protocol in the adverse finding of Luis Ortiz". The results came back late September 28, and Ortiz's "A" sample tested positive for the banned diuretics chlorothiazide and hydrochlorothiazide, which are used to treat high blood pressure but also can be used as masking agents for performance-enhancing drug use.

Stiverne was already set to fight Dominic Breazeale on the undercard, but now will move into the main event against his arch-rival. Showtime will televise the contest.

Stiverne, the WBC mandatory title challenger who was paid to step aside so Wilder could face Ortiz, was hospitalized after the first fight for severe dehydration and muscle damage.

'In the first fight, I broke my hand in the third round, and I still dominated. He is 27-0 with 23 knockouts in his career.

The Haitian-born heavyweight known as, B.WARE, remains the only fighter out of 38, not to be knocked out by Wilder. "This time it won't end well for him".

Now Stiverne has the rematch he has wanted with Wilder and he is excited about it. "It was my fault, but I learn from my mistakes". "Now it's time to see if Deontay can clear that roadblock and continue on his path to becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion and the most recognizable and dominant force in boxing".
