Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to join Liverpool from Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to join Liverpool from Arsenal

It has been widely reported that the England worldwide snubbed Chelsea for Klopp's side as he felt he might have been used as wing-back for the Blues - a position he does not want to play.

Liverpool said Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, had signed a "long-term contract", which is thought to be a five-year deal.

He had one year left on his deal at the Emirates Stadium, and had also attracted interest from Chelsea, who agreed a similar fee with Arsenal earlier this week.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is with England preparing for Friday's World Cup qualifier in Malta and underwent a medical at St George's Park on Wednesday evening. It has been a massive help. But, like I say, if you said to me a year ago, or six months ago, you would get £40m for Oxlade-Chamberlain, I would've snapped your hand off.

This deal comes as good news to the Liverpool Management who are currentling in a deadline day battle to hold on to their wantaway midfielder, Coutinho who is keen opn securing a move to Barcelona.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's move to Liverpool can already be seen as a personal defeat for Arsene Wenger.

Having played 130 times in the Premier League in seven years at the Emirates, with many of those performances coming off the bench, the England global is obviously hoping for first team football.

Oxlade-Chamberlain may be a good player, but there's a lot to suggest Liverpool fans shouldn't get too excited about their new signing.

'But I think he's a very, very positive signing'.

The versatile midfielder is reported to have rejected the chance to move to Premier League champions Chelsea in favour of a move to Liverpool. He thinks he'll get more out of working with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Gary Neville has expressed his doubts over Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's move to Liverpool this summer and claimed that "he doesn't strengthen their team".
