Active shooter arrested at OH high school, no injuries reported

NBC4i reported that police were called to the high school around 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

Police in OH say they have one person in custody after responding to reports of an active shooter at a Columbus high school Friday morning.

The school was placed on lockdown and officers were searching the building, WCMH reported. At one point, pupils were moved to a neighboring school but have since been allowed to return to gather their belongings. Most of the staff are intervention specialists - trained to use behavior modification techniques to promote positive behavior changes.

Chief Kim Jacobs in a press briefing that a staff member was able to talk to the armed suspect inside the school.

Police did not say whether the suspect was a student. However, police asked drivers to avoid the area as they conduct their investigation. Shortly thereafter, the police department said on social media that SWAT officers had one person in custody.

Columbus City Schools have canceled classes for students on Monday.
