Facebook and Instagram both experiencing widespread downtime

Facebook had earlier this week too faced a major outage.

Social media platform Facebook's servers went down for about half an hour on Saturday evening. Here is a compilation of some of the best tweets to come out of the trending #facebookdown on Twitter this morning.

According to media reports, Facebook users around the world found themselves unable to access the social network through their desktop computers.

Down Detector reported a large spike in users being unable to access Facebook after 7:30 PM IST.

Shortly after 7am, service could be seen being restored.

"Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes".

Users of Facebook's online photo-sharing service, Instagram, also suffered the same fate. At its peak, more than 1,800 people said they were experiencing problems on the website.

The issues seem to be mostly resolved, so luckily Facebook/Instagram users won't have to stress out for much longer.
