Lawyer: Dragged passenger lost 2 teeth and broke his nose

United Airlines is reportedly compensating all customers who were on the flight in which a passenger was forcibly removed from his seat.

Munoz's latest statement described the removal as "truly horrific".

But Demetrio said neither Dao nor his family had heard from United.

"We're not going to put a law-enforcement official on to remove a booked, paid, seated passenger", Munoz said in an interview Wednesday with ABC. 'We can't do that'.

By Tuesday afternoon, nearly two days after the Sunday evening confrontation in Chicago, CEO Oscar Munoz issued his most contrite apology yet as details emerged about the man seen on cellphone videos recorded by other passengers at O'Hare Airport.

Mr Munoz called the incident a "system failure" and said United would reassess its procedures for seeking volunteers to give up their seats when a flight is full.

Dao refused to leave and a nearby passenger recorded cops forcibly removing the doctor from his seat and dragging him down the aisle.

He has since launched legal action and his lawyers filed court papers asking the airline and the city of Chicago to preserve evidence in the case. Those documents are often the first steps toward a lawsuit.

"They take the bait. and you dig yourself in a deeper hole", Bueermann said, comparing the United situation to that of a SC police officer seen on cellphone video in 2015 flipping a high school student backward in her desk-chair then dragging her across the classroom after she refused to leave. In a separate statement, the Chicago Police Department said Dao had acted "irate" and "fell" in the process, resulting in injury.

Additionally, new cell phone video shows Dao speaking on the phone as a Chicago Department of Aviation security officer tried to get him to leave the plane.

"Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao's medical care and treatment".

United's explanation "has been unsatisfactory, and appears to underestimate the public anger about this incident", four senators wrote in letters Tuesday to United CEO Oscar Munoz and Ginger Evans, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation. And when the flight gets close to its departure time, seats assigned to passengers who haven't shown up can be given away.

United's CEO, Oscar Munoz, quickly came under fire for his initial response to the incident.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told CNN on Wednesday that President Trump should "stop the overbooking until we set some more different rules about how the airlines can conduct themselves".

The others complied. After Dao refused, airport security officers yanked him out of his seat and dragged him off the plane.

His attorneys, along with some of his family members, are scheduled to talk to reporters Thursday. No one volunteered when passengers were offered vouchers to change their flight.
